My experience

Started songwriting at age 16

Ever since I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, I decided that the guitar and pop music was it for me!

Geri's biography

Singer, Songwriter and Performer

Geri Karlstrom was born in Port Alberni in 1952. A natural singer, guitarist and songwriter she started her pop music career in the late 1960's as a result of her love for Beatles music. Her career has spanned over 40 years. In 1980, she wrote and recorded her fist album "Coolage" (Geri Baird) produced by Donnie Gossett of Salvation Air Force. In 1986, Geri married her musical partner and producer Ben Karlstrom. They soon coauthored a Contemporary Christian album titled "Karlstrom", which received extensive play and charting throughout the U.S. and Canada. In 1999, Karlstrom's first recovery album "Soulful Journey" was released on the Internet. It was one of the first "recovery music" CDs of its kind specifically geared toward bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa recovery.

Every Ten Years..

Every ten years or so I put out a new CD. I've been working on my latest for about 6 years... so I have 4 to go! I've written 3 songs for this CD - Starving For Attention, I'm Still Here and Broken. I plan on writing one more and then releasing a 4 song EP... Do they do that anymore?

Geri's Favorite Artists
It's not that women don't inspire me.. I love Joni Mitchell, Chrissie Hynde and Emmylou...

This is just a few of my favorite songwriters and singers. Last year's biggest discovery was Chuck Cannon and Martyn Joseph who came to Vancouver and were totally amazing. Just when I though there was no new inspiration in the world I discovered and met these fine artists. Notice how I snuck Paul in there...
